Traditionally, most people go with the standard nutsets and phillips head screws to hold their engine cowling on.  There are a few issues with this method of retaining your cowling.

When the screwdriver slips then pain gets scratched, if you over tighten any screws then the fibreglass get all crazed and holding the cowls in place by yourself is a trick all of it’s own. In the end, removing the cowling is such a pain that we don’t do it and vital issues may go unnoticed.

What this hinge system does is allows you to remove the cowls in less than 40 seconds, and it re-installing takes about 2 minutes.  The fitting is much stronger than the screws.

Please note that I always recommend that these be included in the purchase of the FWF.  They are not a stock item and freight can be expensive due to the fact that they are 1 m long.  Freight is not included in this price.  There are 3 x 3 foot lengths of hinge included in the set.  No rivets are included but you can order them on my shop page if you like.  I think A4’s at a 40mm pitch are fine for this job.
